Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Long Arc Research and Legends

General Questions

What is Long Arc Research?

Long Arc Research is a platform dedicated to deep learning through the study of legendary founders and business leaders. We offer three platforms—Legends (available now), Latticework, and Mt. Rushmore (coming soon)—designed to help you think better, make wiser decisions, and develop deeper understanding.

What is Legends?

Legends is our flagship platform featuring comprehensive dossiers on history's most influential founders and executives. Each dossier combines deeply researched narratives, contextual marginalia, actionable playbooks, and a taxonomy of mental models and archetypes. It's designed for serious learners who want to understand not just what great leaders did, but how they thought.

How is this different from reading biographies?

While we draw heavily from primary sources and biographies, Legends goes deeper by: (1) Connecting patterns across different leaders through our taxonomy system, (2) Extracting actionable frameworks in our Playbooks, (3) Providing contextual marginalia that links decisions to broader principles, and (4) Focusing specifically on how people thought and made decisions, not just chronological life stories.

Who creates this content?

Our content is created by researchers, historians, and business strategists who are obsessed with understanding what makes extraordinary people extraordinary. Every dossier involves months of research through primary sources, biographies, letters, and historical documents.

Content & Features

Which legends are currently available?

We currently have dossiers on legendary founders including Henry Ford, John D. Rockefeller, Charlie Munger, and many others. Check our Legends homepage for the complete list of available and upcoming legends.

How often do you add new content?

We publish new volumes and chapters regularly. Each dossier requires significant research time—we prioritize depth and quality over speed. Subscribers receive email notifications when new content is published.

Can I suggest legends for future coverage?

Absolutely! We love hearing from our community about which founders and executives they'd like us to cover. Send your suggestions to suggestions@longarcresearch.com.

What are Playbooks?

Playbooks are actionable frameworks distilled from how specific leaders approached recurring challenges. For example, "Ford's Vertical Integration Playbook" or "Munger's Mental Models Checklist." They're designed to be practical tools you can apply to your own decisions.

What is the Taxonomy system?

Our Taxonomy system categorizes leaders by archetypes (e.g., "The Builder," "The Consolidator"), disciplines (e.g., capital allocation, product design), and recurring mental models. This helps you see patterns across different leaders and contexts, making the wisdom more transferable.

Can I download or print content?

Currently, all content is accessible through our web platform. We're exploring PDF downloads and print-friendly formats for subscribers. Stay tuned for updates.
